Why PS @ PS?
I chose the Performance Studies program for its interdisciplinary approach, which aligns with my evolving journey in design and dance, as well as my research interests. My previous master’s thesis focused on creating an immersive dance theater. With a background in architecture, I view it as a form of performance art, shaped by my passion for theater and my practice in dance and music.
Performance Studies has provided me with the theoretical foundation and collaborative opportunities to further develop my vision. My research interests include the history of theater design, the roots of Hip Hop culture in the African American community, the emergence of House dance in the queer community, and the global spread of dance cultures, particularly Hip Hop in Asia. This program offers the ideal platform for integrating these elements and contributing to innovative performing arts.
