Marcos Davi Silva Steuernagel

Marcos Davi Silva Steuernagel is Assistant Professor of Theater at The New School. His research and teaching focus on how performance theory and practice can help us unpack shared histories of coloniality, violence, and structural inequality across the Américas, and particularly in Brazil. With Diana Taylor, he coedited the multilingual digital books What is Performance Studies? (2015) and Resistant Strategies (2021), and has published essays in TDR: The Drama Review, Latin American Theatre Review, and the Journal of Global South Studies, among other places. His upcoming book addresses the performance, policy, and politics of the Workers' Party in Brazil, from 2002 to 2016. Before joining the New School, Marcos has taught at the Universidade Estadual do Paraná in Brazil, New York University, New York University Abu Dhabi, and at the University of Colorado Boulder.
