Paul Steinberg

Paul Steinberg designs sets and costumes for Theatre and Opera in the United States and internationally. Recent productions include: Judgment Day at the Park Avenue Armory (Henry Hewes Design Award), Tamerlano at the Frankfurt Opera, Twilight Zone at the Almeida Theater and in the West End, Billy Budd at the Bolshoi Opera (Golden Mask Award for set design), Un Ballo in Maschera, Falstaff, Der Rosenkavalier at the Metropolitan Opera, Lohengrin, Semiramide at Covent Garden (Olivier Award for best opera production), and Co2 for La Scala (Italian Music critics Award for best set design).

Current productions for the 2021/22 season include L’Italiana In Londra in Frankfurt and a double bill of El Amor Brujo and The Diary Of One Who Disappeared in Strasbourg.
Paul Steinberg is a graduate of Pratt Institute and The Central School of Art, London.
He is a fellow Of The American Academy In Rome. Paul was a Designated Honored Scenographer at the 2007 Prague Quadrennial. He received the International Opera Award for best designer in 2018.
