MUSICIAN:
As a songwriter, singer, saxophonist, guitarist, producer, and engineer, Marc has had the pleasure of making music both in the studio and onstage with Jon Batiste, Sufjan Stevens, Ra Ra Riot, Panama Wedding, Pete Francis of Dispatch, Hiromi, Peter Himmelman, and many others. He is currently releasing songs with a new artist project called J. Bryan Marcus, comprised of award-winning producers/composers Ryan Andrews, Ben Jacobs, and himself.
ENTREPRENEUR:
Marc co-founded “DecisionDesk,” the first multimedia-enabled online application for colleges, in use at thousands of universities worldwide and acquired by Embark. He next founded “Wifi Music School,” an online marketplace for private music lessons via Skype with some of the top musicians and educators in the world, also acquired by Flint Hills Music.
Marc is currently the founder and CEO of Beast Music A.I., a system he developed that completely reimagines traditional music marketing. It is used by numerous major record labels, helping songs for artists such as Ravyn Lenae, Steve Lacy, Freddie Dredd, Sleepy Hallow, and many others reach millions of the right listeners. Beast recently celebrated its first campaign to reach a number one position on the Billboard chart.
PROFESSOR:
Marc joined NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2016 and teaches courses that blend music creation with entrepreneurship and business. He regularly hosts a conversation series that has brought some of the most influential names in music, technology, and business to his students. Notable guests include Jack Dorsey (co-founder of Twitter & Square), Scooter Braun (manager to Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and more), Ryan Holiday (best-selling author), Theo Katzman & Jack Stratton (Vulfpeck), Rostam (Vampire Weekend), Rob Moose (Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver), Merck Mercuriadis (founder of Hipgnosis Songs Fund), Jack Conte (co-founder of Patreon, band member in Pomplamoose and Scary Pockets), Sylvan Esso, Herb Alpert, and many more. Marc's students have gone on to write number-one hit songs, launch new music festivals, win Grammy awards, and, most importantly, create what they want on their own terms.
