Tisch Salute is a celebration of our students in both our graduate and undergraduate programs. Below are some suggestions for writing your speech:
Speeches should be no longer than 5 minutes in length.
Please be considerate of your audience: parents/family, faculty, alumni, distinguished guests, students, and Dean Green.
Speeches should avoid too many moments that not every student would find relatable: New Student Move-in Day, Welcome Week, things specific to your department, etc. We have transfer students, commuter students, students with children, students in the military and a variety of other populations. Remember to be inclusive in topic and content.
This is a celebration of our candidates! We want our speeches to be honest, thoughtful and reflective of your personal experiences, but keep in mind the celebratory tone of the ceremony.
Below are the steps for submitting your speech:
All speeches must be submitted by the deadline.
Please email your speech in Word or PDF format to tisch.salute@nyu.edu.
Students will be contacted regarding their status in mid-March.
Finalists will be asked to present their speeches to the Salute Speaker Selection Committee by mid-March.
Final selection and notification will be by the end of March.
