I'm an NYU graduate, who had his mind expanded by incredible documentary teachers throughout my time in Tisch. I became a great admirer of films that portray captivating realities of ordinary people. I never expected that I'd get the opportunity to not just do that with my own father and to understand him myself in so many vivid dimensions, but collaborate on a project together. A teacher asked me how much of my relationship with my father I was willing to risk to make this film. I stupidly replied, ”As much as it took." But when you have the kind of father I do, someone who routinely risks any sense of decorum or dignity at the sake of pleasing someone he holds dearly, I didn’t have anything to risk. I deepened something I took for granted all my life. It was the pleasure of my life to make this film.
