Congratulations to Alum Vicki Speegle ('96) whose documentary, In the Night I Remember Your Name, is streaming on PBS.

In the Night I Remember Your Name
A daughter’s chronicle of her mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s. It is the story of a grandmother’s grief as she begins losing the very abilities that her new granddaughter is learning. It is the story of a pastor’s relationship with God as she questions what is happening to her. It is a journey from anguish to acceptance. And in the end, it is a story of joy.

Vicki Speegle is a writer and ice cream addict from Akron, Ohio. She grew up the daughter of a gay pastor, and has worked an odd mix of jobs to support her filmmaking, including 4 years in the U.S. Navy tracking submarines. She earned her BFA in Film from NYU and her script LOVED ONES was developed at Amazon Studios, where it was a finalist for Best Screenplay of the Year. Vicki produced a documentary about her mother’s struggle with faith in the wake of Alzheimer’s airing on PBS. IN THE NIGHT I REMEMBER YOUR NAME features Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden. Her work has placed in the finals of the Sundance Screenplay Lab, Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope.com (2nd place), and Bluecat (top 5). She also works as a web producer to supply her ice cream fix, currently for Carnegie Hall.
