On the Town: Associate Arts Professor, Dell Howlett, far right in jean jacket, and students at "Blood Manor" (Haunted House) at Lafayette Hall
Dell Howlett, Associate Arts Professor in the Department of Drama and Faculty Fellow-in-Residence at Rubin Hall, introduces students to New York City cultural offerings – creating new friendships and communities at NYU.
“As an artist/educator working in New York City, community is most alive for me when my students can share in my experiences away from the classroom,” said Howlett. “I find purpose inside of mentorship. The faculty-in-residence position allows seemingly separate parts of my experience as artist to synthesize as it helps me to answer the question, ‘if I had proper budgetary resources, and greater proximity, what would I share with my students?’”
He adds: “At the newly renovated Rubin Hall, I have the honor of sharing my favorite aspects of New York/New York University life with residents and simply stated, I find great fulfillment in that. I was speaking to a colleague recently and was struck at how much renewed affection I feel for my job here at NYU. I know this is because of the fresh new dialogue between the classroom, faculty-in-residence mentorship, and my artistic work as director/choreographer in the most exciting city in the world. #gratefulformycommunity”
