Lamar Sanders

Lamar Sanders has written for the stage, screen, television and radio, a varied output that includes independent feature films, commissioned screenplay assignments for such studios as Universal, 20th Century Fox, and Tri-Star Productions, and animated educational films. His original screenplay, Tickets to Ride (co-written with Mark Dickerman) has been optioned numerous times, most recently by Ted Turner's TNT productions.

He was the co-writer of the acclaimed documentary, No Immediate Danger, which has won over twenty national and international awards and was excerpted on CBC's 60 Minutes. His other work has won numerous awards and citations -- Chicago Film Festival -- where his work won two Silver Hugos -- Baltimore Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, and as a Eugene O'Neill National Playwright’s Conference finalist. His work has also been shown in a wide range of venues, including Canyon Cinema, The Film Forum, New York’s Museum of Modern Art and the Florida Center for the Arts. In addition to NYU, he has also taught advanced screenwriting seminars at the University of London, England, University College Dublin, Ireland, and the State University of New York at Buffalo.

His most recently completed original screenplay, The Last Testament of Edgar Poe, is a screen biography of Edgar Allan Poe. Sanders received his BFA from New York University and served as the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television's Departmental Chair from 2005 to 2011. He is also a lifetime member of the Writer's Guild of America.
