Kasey O'Brien

Kasey O’Brien (she/they) is the Program Administrator for the Masters of Professional Studies in Virtual Production at The Martin Scorsese Center.

A lifelong performer, Kasey has been seen on stage and screen telling an array of stories from the West Coast to the East Coast. She is the writer/director of several short films which have screened at festivals around the world, including Tacoma Film Festival, MINT Film Festival, QFest St. Louis, Out on Film Atlanta, Montreal Independent Film Fest (award winner), Toronto Intl Women Film Festival (award winner), Portland Short Fest (award winner) and Reel Love Festival (award winner). She’s a natural-born director who has spent years diversifying her skillset in film production, including producing, writing, camera operating, and post-production. Kasey's first documentary, which features a senior living with a developmental disability, began production in 2022. Her upcoming projects to watch out for include a sci-fi mockumentary series and a body horror feature film centered on an alternative climate future.

Kasey currently serves on the board of directors for PANO Network, a 501(c)(3) that champions inclusion in Film, TV, and Media. She is a founding member of The Garret Theatre Company, a theatre cooperative based in Astoria, Queens. Her off-hours are spent scheming travel, geeking out over amazing wines, and taking Jeopardy a little too seriously.

Education: MFA from The New School, BFA from Roosevelt University, summer intensive at Moscow Art Theatre School, study abroad programs in South Africa and Germany.
