Victoria Whooper
Assistant Arts Professor
Victoria “Vicki” Whooper (she/her/hers) is proud to be joining the Tisch Drama team as the new Assistant Arts Professor in Stage Management and Head of Stage Management Training. Victoria holds an MFA in Stage Management from the Yale School of Drama and a BA in Theatre from Dominican University.
Victoria is an educator, scholar, stage manager and arts enthusiast from Chicago, IL. Victoria’s work as both an educator and freelance stage manager centers around uplifting the voices of the global majority and reframing the ways in which we approach stage management. Victoria is currently the ASM on A Strange Loop Broadway, and has participated in various panels with The Year of the Stage Manager 2020 and The Stage Manager’s Association discussing issues of EDI in theatre industry as it pertains to Stage Managers. Vicki also held a year-long residency with the Hangar Theatre as a member of their EDI Committee assisting in the creation of new theatre policy around hiring practices, season selection, and community engagement with the large BIPOC population in Ithaca, New York. In the spring of 2022 Victoria joined the SMMP (stage management mentorship program) cohort of USITT as a mentor to young stage managers assisting in their transition from undergrad to the professional sector.
Victoria held previous faculty appointments at The University of Miami in Miami FL and Columbia College Chicago in Chicago IL.
