Lisa Sokolov is a singer, composer, and teacher of voice. The creator of Embodied Voice Work, a holistic method used in the training of performing artists, arts therapy, and body/mind medical practitioners. Sokolov has performed internationally in concerts and festivals including the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Kool Jazz Festival, Havana International Jazz Festival, The Spoleto Festival, Opera House of Lyons, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Tampare Jazz Happening, Brisbane Festival  and the Baltic Scandal Festival.

Her compositions for solo voice, ensemble, and large chorus have been performed in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Predominantly coming from the improvisational jazz world, Sokolov crosses over and collaborates frequently within the performance art, dance, and new music scenes. She is a frequent keynote speaker and performer at International Drama and Music Therapy, Voice Pedagogy and Body/Mind Medicine Conferences. She has taught internationally in Switzerland, Holland, Israel, Canada, Iceland, Australia, Slovenia and Estonia and is affiliated with on-going training institutes in New York, Germany and Switzerland.

Her recordings as leader Presence, Lazy Afternoon and angel Rodeo have each received press acclaim and best CD of the Year citations. She is also featured on Song cycle CD's of composers William Parker and Gerry Hemingway Lisa’s recording Presence received  5 Stars “Masterpiece” and Best CD of the 2004 from DownBeat Magazine.  Sokolov also placed on DownBeat’s 2005 critics poll Rising Star Vocalist list. www.lisasokolov.com
