Her most recent short film, Cross My Heart, follows an American teen who upon visiting her family in Jamaica, discovers a secret that changes the way she sees the people she loves.

Laurel Akira Parmet is a filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. The daughter of a cinematographer, Laurel was raised on film sets and Kurosawa movies. As such, visual storytelling was always an essential part of her life. Today, Laurel focuses on stories about women, in all forms. She is currently a third year student at NYU's graduate film directing program.
