BFA, NYU Tisch School of the Arts 

Sofía Figueroa is a Venezuelan actor, director, dancer and art therapist. She is the Voice and Speech teacher for the Lang Arts Scholars and the FTA Program at NYU. She is also the Curator of the MSNR Alumni Creative Incubator in the university. She graduated from the MSNR Studio with the Outstanding Achievement Award, and since then, she's been teaching under the mentorship of Shanga Parker and Gigi Buffington. In 2022 Sofía Figueroa started working with the Musicamente Center as an art therapist for students with special needs, including neuro-developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, motor impairment, blindness and low vision, as well as those with behavioral and emotional dysregulation.

Since graduating, she has been performing in Obie and Drama Desk Award winning theaters in New York and is currently the beloved Disney character, Mirabel, in the Disney Encanto Immersive Experience at CAMP 5th Avenue. She was part of the winning production of three-time Tony Award winning, and Grammy Award winning actor, Lin-Manuel Miranda's competition, “The Miranda Voces Latinx National Playwriting Competition” at El Repertorio Español. Her recent acting credits include; Revolt. She Said. Revolt. in TheaterLab and Syrma, in The Center of Italian Modern Art.

Apart from acting, Sofía Figueroa is also a dancer and was part of the project, Blood Memory, on Broadway’s The New Victory Theater and got invited to dance at the “Miss Universe MUBA Event” in Miami. Moreover, she was part of the first 100 artists to perform at the new outdoor performing center at Little Island in, A Part of the Main, a movement show that got featured in The New York Times, Playbill, and Time Out. 

As a director, Sofía Figueroa directed the one woman show, Sunny & Dawn, in the Off-Broadway theater, Soho Playhouse and Dance Nation, the finalist of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, at the MSNR Studio of Acting. Her directorial role is not limited to the theater. Sofía Figueroa also directed an art exhibition called, HOME Art Expo, where she created a platform for international artists to showcase their art. Her work got featured in Harper’s Bazaar, People Magazine and Cosmopolitan.
