The Department of Dance at Tisch offers intense training for students committed to their futures as internationally acclaimed dancers and choreographers. We seek exceptionally talented students who are physically and imaginatively prepared to undertake programs that reflect the highest standards of the professional field.

Courses include training in contemporary dance, traditional ballet, and choreography as well as theory, composition, kinesiology, dance science, history of dance, music, acting and dance, and dance and technology, all taught in a challenging (yet nurturing) environment. Our many and varied performance opportunities let students hone their skills in performance and produce choreographic works of their own. They’ll collaborate with renowned guest artists whom we invite to create and share work with our students.

The Tisch interdisciplinary philosophy approaches the training of the dancer as a thinking, creative artist, and allows for numerous opportunities to collaborate with musicians, designers, and media artists throughout Tisch. Our students are part of more than just the Tisch artistic community — they’re students at one of the top universities in the world, where they’ll choose from a wide variety of courses and disciplines to receive training in areas that complement their dancing while completing their degree.
